Reverend Richard Mauthe’s Golden Jubilee

On Sunday, June 22, over 300 parishioners came to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Father Richard Mauthe.

Mauthe has been the reliable and beloved “helper” at all Stella Maris parish sites, including those in Door County. He has engaged the church community with his humanity, humor and humility.

The mass at the Fish Creek site proved to be a multi-media experience. Father Steven Brice delivered the homily, as presented at the celebration held in Father Mauthe’s honor in Green Bay two weeks ago, via video. Organist and vocal soloist Don Richter sang “El Shaddai” during Communion and followed the recessional with a toccata by Charles Marie Widor. Jazz musicians, clarinetist Kevin Vaness and accompanist John Vanhouten, performed “Amazing Grace” during Communion, and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” prior to the recessional.

Members of Christ Renews His Parish, Main Street Market and other parishioners provided a wonderful reception following the mass.
