Savanna Townsend Joins Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center as Marketing and Promotions Director

The Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center (SBVC) announced that Savanna Townsend has been hired as Marketing and Promotions Director. Townsend began her new position with the organization Sept. 5.

Townsend is a recent graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in marketing and international business, minoring in Spanish. Townsend, a Sturgeon Bay native, swam for Iowa State during her four years there and assisted in coordinating the Iowa Games through the Iowa Sports Foundation.

“I am thrilled to be back in Sturgeon Bay and am excited to continue the marketing and promotion of our city through the SBVC,” Townsend said. “I always knew that I wanted to come back to the community that was so supportive of me during my swimming career, so when the opportunity arose, I knew that this was the job that I wanted.”

“We talk a lot about how we can get millennials to Sturgeon Bay and how we can get graduates back to our community with opportunities that are not just jobs, but actual career paths,” said SBVC Executive Director Pam Seiler. “Out of 44 applicants, Savanna rose to the top with her strong leadership skills, her enthusiasm, and her passion for Sturgeon Bay, Door County, and all that our county has to offer. We are confident that Savanna’s presence will continue to propel Sturgeon Bay forward as a premier Door County destination and look forward to watching her grow in her career.”
