Savory Spoon Offers Tasty Events

The Savory Spoon Cooking School in Ellison Bay will present the first “Small Bites” event on Tuesday, July 6 at 6 pm. The event will feature several small plates inspired by the seasonal garden and include a glass of wine paired with the menu. The “Small Bites” events take place every Tuesday and are designed for visitors to sip, savor, and enjoy a taste of dishes from around the world.

On Wednesday, July 7 the Savory Spoon will present the first in a series of Floral Arranging 101 classes. At 9:30 am, Helene Ingsten-Anderson, owner of Flora Flower Shop in Sister Bay, will teach participants how to create a spectacular centerpiece. The theme for the class is “A Mid-Summer Feast,” and feature berries and fresh greens to give the centerpieces a Scandinavian feel.

Also on Wednesday, July 7 at 6 pm, the Savory Spoon will teach the fun and easy art of making homemade pasta. Taught by in-house instructor Kathy McCarthy, the 1 1/2 hour workshop will include tips and tricks to making tasty pasta. The class will feature a meal of fresh spinach fettuccine made with local eggs, prosciutto, peas, and roasted red peppers. Accompanying the pasta will be a fresh garden salad with homemade vinaigrette and a warm baguette.
