Sophanistas Assemble

For the fifth year, the inside of Patricia Shoppe will be sparkling in mosaic jewels created by Sophia Forero. Through July 30th, the jewels will be on display, and the designer herself will be in attendance the 25th to 27th.

Each year the show grows in attendance and new “Sophanistas” eagerly await the latest Sophia will bring. “The collectors keep coming back,” notes Erin Bosman, owner of the Egg Harbor boutique. “They tell us stories of the compliments they’ve gotten from the previous year’s piece, and we love hearing them!”

Forero and her team take precious stones, sew them onto fabric, and then set them in hand cast sterling or gold plated rings, necklaces and earrings. Her husband, installation artist Mauricio Forero, also designs, adding leather cuffs to the collection. His carvings are cast into rings and pendants, including the commemorative Door County Cherry Blossom necklace piece. Proceeds from the sales of the Cherry Blossom necklace will go to Write On, Door County.

Sophia Forero designs precious and semi-precious jewelry that has sold in over 300 specialty stores in the US, Canada, and Europe.
