Southern Door School’s Barb Mueller Receives Special Education Paraprofessional Award

Southern Door special education paraprofessional Barb Mueller has received the Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services (WCASS) Region 5 Special Education Paraprofessional Award. She will receive this special recognition at the Region 5 spring luncheon on May 27. Mueller was nominated due to her commitment to working with children with disabilities in the area of math. She supports the classroom teachers by pre-teaching, reteaching, and using multiple strategies to reach students with disabilities. She has been a part of the school community by helping plan health and wellness activities as a member of the wellness committee, a part of the supervisory team at after school events and under the direction of a licensed teacher, and has assisted developing parent math resources along with a grant funded math summer tutoring program.
