Springtime Exploration at Crossroads

Crossroads at Big Creek is hosting a kick-off breakfast for its Habitat Healers on April 1, 8:30-10 am. Nick Lutzke, Crossroads’ land and facilities manager, will give an overview of the projects for 2023, and volunteers can meet one another before the restoration season gets underway on the first work day, set for April 22, 9-11 am. Register for the breakfast (required) at crossroadsatbigcreek.org

Saturday Science will meet April 1, 2 pm, for an April Fool’s Day pike hike. For the past several years, Northern pike have begun swimming up Big Creek around April Fool’s Day, so after a short indoor presentation, the group will hike to Big Creek to search for the fish. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Crossroads Bird Club will meet April 4, 6:30 pm, for “Don’t Be an April Fool When Identifying Look-alike Birds.” The presentation will help birders sort out waterfowl and raptors. Meet at the Collins Learning Center.

The Junior Nature Club will gather April 5, 10 am, to look for potential frog ponds. The program is for preschool-aged students and their companions, and activities will take place outdoors if the weather is nice. Meet first at the Collins Learning Center.

Find out more about these activities and others at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay, at crossroadsatbigcreek.org.
