Sunshine House Provides 26,000 Rides in 2019

In 2019, Sunshine House provided more than 26,000 rides to Door County residents. Rain or shine, snow or sleet, Karen Leitzinger, director of transportation for Sunshine House, has the fleet warmed up and ready to accommodate those needing a ride. 

Sunshine House gives clients more than 8,000 rides to their community employment, personal-care appointments and Sunflower Cottage outings and thus is very excited to take delivery of two new buses and a new van to replace existing vehicles that have reached their service life.“Part of my role is not only to coordinate the daily transportation needs of our clients, but to also ensure that our vehicles are maintained and in running order,” Leitzinger said. “Eventually they reach a point that it begins to be too costly to repair, and they need to be replaced.”
