Telepediatrics Introduced at DCMC

Telemedicine services at Door County Medical Center (DCMC) now include telepediatrics and TeleNICU, which allow physicians in remote areas to access pediatric subspecialists with audio and video capability.

“Our mission at DCMC is to improve the health and well-being of our community,” said DCMC pediatrician Amy Fogarty. “Through our partnership with Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), we are able to collaborate with specialists to provide care for our pediatric patients in both urgent and emergent situations. Our entire care team, from nursing staff to physicians, have been trained in telepediatrics.”

Telepediatrics can also be used in other settings for more routine consultation when travel distances make it difficult to obtain subspecialist care.

There are three board-certified neonatologists at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, and a fourth will join the team in July 2020. These providers remain in-house at all times and are available for consultation day or night, seven days a week.
