The Music Man is set in 1912 in the small town of River City, Iowa. The town is about to be changed forever when travelling salesman Harold Hill arrives prepared to sell band instruments and uniforms. Much to his surprise Hill meets up with an old friend, Marcellus and “gets his foot caught in the door” falling in love with the town’s librarian, Marian.

The original Broadway production of The Music Man opened at the Majestic Theatre on December 19, 1957 with Robert Preston playing the role of Harold Hill and Barbara Cook as Marian Paroo, the town librarian. The show ran for 1,375 performances and won eight Tony Awards.

With a large cast of students from grades 4 – 12, Sevastopol School’s The Music Man will be presented as a Broadway Junior version through arrangements with Tams-Witmark Music Company. The show will feature students Trevor Hietpas as Harold Hill, Rachael Wilson as Marian Paroo, McKenzie Birmingham as Eulalie Shinn, Davin Jeanquart as Mayor Shinn, Isaiah Spetz as Marcellus Washburn, Bennett Rabach as Winthrop, and Millar Minahan as Charlie Cowell.

A large number of students, parents and staff members are assisting with the show. Special thanks to: Ann Hurth, Nick Hutchinson, Tracy Jilot, Heather Fellner Spetz, Joanna Fulton, Ashley LaVick, Cheryl Pfister, Brian Spetz and Lynn Zawojski.
