Toivo

This new group, made up entirely of Door County residents, has only been playing together for a year but they plan on making a name for themselves around the peninsula this summer.

Toivo moved their home base from Ephraim last winter to Fish Creek. Scott Zimmerman plays electric guitar and bass, Ryan Urquart hits rhythm guitar and vocals, Rob Gay plays the drums, and Dan Luedke plays bass and electric guitar. The four have been playing together in various forms for a while, but they decided to get serious and start playing original music last winter.

In an interview, Zimmerman described their sound as “New Beijing avant-garde pow-wow,” and “bohemian soul graffiti.” When pressed for a description in laymen’s’ terms, he replied “we’re just a good old four piece rock and roll band.” That’ll do.
