Traveling Green in Door County

Door and Kewaunee Counties now boast 44 Travel Green Certified businesses and organizations. Travel Green is operated by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to recognize businesses operating in a more environmentally conscious manner.

To qualify, a business must be tourism-dependent and undertake a comprehensive review of its operations. The process includes evaluation of energy use and sources, efficiency, steps taken to reduce waste, such as composting, recycling, or heat conservation.

The program now includes 291 certified businesses statewide.

A business must earn 30 points to be certified. The highest number of points awarded in the program’s history is 140. For more information visit http://www.travelgreenwisconsin.com.
