Two Favorite Femmes Return to TAP

What do you get when you combine two members of the popular acoustic trio, Tres Femmes? The answer – an evening of music that is eclectic, energetic and, above all, excellent. Victoria Vox and Stolie return to Third Avenue Playhouse for one performance on Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

In 2003, Vox, Kelli Lin Knott and Stolie met and formed the acoustic trio Tres Femmes. Their precise harmonies and meticulous musicianship received rave reviews and invited comparisons to the Dixie Chicks, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Wilson Phillips, the Supremes and Destiny’s Child. The group disbanded in 2005 to pursue solo careers but the three women have forged life-long friendships which resulted in a reunion appearance at TAP last summer and this year’s pairing of Vox and Stolie.

Vox has always known it was her destiny to perform, but didn’t find her true voice in performing until after tackling a Casio keyboard, violin, oboe, trumpet, guitar, bass and now, ukulele. A graduate of Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, she founded her own publishing company, Obus Music, in 2003 and took to the road full time. Her CD Victoria Vox and Her Jumping Flea was released in 2006 and earned rave reviews, and her brand new album, Chameleon, is garnering much of the same.

Stolie started her career in music at an early age, taking piano lessons at six and writing her first song at sixteen. She majored in English at Illinois Wesleyan University and studied a year abroad in London where she began performing at folk clubs and for loose change in the Tube. Twelve years later, she has released four albums of original music. Her latest, Between the Fake and the Real, has been featured on WXRT in Chicago.
