Upcoming Red Cross Blood Drives in Algoma and Fish Creek

As freezing temperatures and harsh weather grip much of the nation, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to make an appointment to give blood or platelets. These are upcoming blood drives happening in the area: Jan. 6, 9 am – 1 pm, Algoma Community Wellness Center, 1715 Division St., Algoma; Jan. 13, 12-5 pm, Northern Door YMCA, 3866 Gibraltar Road, Fish Creek.

Download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800.RED.CROSS (800.733.2767) to make an appointment. All blood types are needed. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.
