Volunteer Center Announces Sixth Annual Golden Heart Awards

The Volunteer Center of Door County is pleased to announce that the sixth annual Golden Heart Awards event will take place on April 24, 2008. This event will be held at Stone Harbor Resort and will honor outstanding volunteers in Door County while recognizing the importance of the nonprofit organizations through which these volunteers work. Philanthropist and TV personality Marti Spittell Ziegelbauer will return as Master of Ceremonies, and the evening’s Keynote Speaker will be Sue Ann Thompson, President and Founder of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation and former first lady of Wisconsin.

This celebration affirms the tremendous impact of volunteerism in Door County, promotes volunteerism and raises awareness of volunteer needs in our community.

The deadline for nominations in each of the six categories – youth, adult, group, lifetime of service, volunteer leadership and, new this year, arts and culture – is March 21 (postmark deadline). Nomination forms are available at Baylake Bank branches, the Volunteer Center and through the website http://www.volunteerdoorcounty.com. Nominees chosen as Golden Heart recipients will receive a glasswork creation by Popelka Trenchard Glass and $1,000 to donate to a Door County charity of their choice.
