Wearable Creations

Pendant by Maggie Joyce.

Eco-conscious designs will be featured at the Door County Wearable Art Show held inside the Sister Bay Village Hall on July 24 – 26. Apparel, accessories and jewelry handcrafted by five of the ten regional and national artists are made from recycled, re-purposed or post consumer textiles.

Stephanie Nordlin, of Reconstructiv SergerE, is known for her detailing as she combines silks, linens and wools. Denim Redoo by Kathy Skomsky of Hendersonville, NC is a line of hand-dyed, upcycled clothing. Ellen Gvora uses the printed section of jersey knits to transform them into skirts, jackets and vests. Maggie Joyce has developed techniques to sculpt recycled optic lenses into jewelry by cutting, dying and etching the resin. Hostess Sue Donohoo, of Soo Hoo Artwear, combines locally sourced textiles, new fabrics and anything else including Door County native plants and snow banks to create jackets, tunics and tops.

The Door County Wearable Art Show is open July 25 & 26 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Sister Bay Village Hall, Waterfront Park, 10693 N. Bay Shore Drive. Admission is free. For more information, call or text 920.421.0449 or visit doorcountywearableartshow.com.
