Outage Affects 800 in Egg Harbor

A Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) crew is working to restore an outage that’s affecting about 800 customers in the Egg Harbor area.

The outage was caused by a damaged piece of underground electric equipment, according to a WPS spokesperson.

“Our crew arrived on scene a short time ago,” said WPS’s Matt Cullen at 10:50 am, Thursday, April 18.

The outage began at about 9:38 am. WPS at one point had an estimated time for restoration as 12:38 pm. By 1:30 pm, Cullen said all but 20 customers had their power restored. He said crews were working to reroute electricity around the damaged equipment. Village Administrator Megan Sawyer said the cause of the damage was “construction interference,” but she did not have the rest of the details at 1:30 pm.

Several projects are ongoing in the village, including crews working on a wide array of infrastructure along state Highway 42.

The village’s Harbor Committee was in session on a Zoom meeting when the outage occurred. The meeting continued, without video, as the village officials’ laptops continued to function on battery power.
