Write On Offers New Courses in June

Both visiting and local teaching artists will offer courses at Write On, Door County in June for writers at all levels of experience. 

Summer resident, award-winning author and holistic writing coach Nadine Kenney Johnstone will offer Micro-Memoir: Tiny True Stories, a four-week class beginning June 8, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Johnstone will lead participants in writing stories of 1,000 words or fewer with the goal of having two polished pieces by the end of the four weeks. 

Michael Brecke, former pastor of St. Paul’s Church in Juddville, will lead the three-part session Writing about the Women in Our Lives on June 12, 14 and 16, 9 am – 12 pm, at Write On’s center, 4210 Juddville Road in Fish Creek. The class will center around the memories we all have of women who have affected our lives. Tuition is $180.

Write On’s writers-in-residence will present half-day workshops. Novelist Gary Eldon Peter, who published his first book in his late 50s, will offer In It for the Long Haul: Writing as a Lifelong Commitment and Practice on June 10, 10 am – 12 pm. Tuition is $40. 

On June 20, 9 am – 12 pm, award-winning published authors Mary Cantrell, Rachel Hall and Anna Leahy will lead In the Beginning: How to Write Great First Lines and Paragraphs – a workshop that applies to grabbing readers’ attention from the very first line of poetry, fiction and essays. Tuition is $60.
