$150,000 Available for Local Renewable-Energy Projects

Sturgeon Bay Utilities (SBU) is searching for nonprofit organizations interested in renewable energy. SBU and WPPI Energy are teaming up to provide individual project grants of up to $100,000 each.

Every grant recipient must be both a nonprofit organization and a current SBU customer. The grant funds are awarded through a competitive-bid process and can be used to cover up to 50 percent of cost-effective renewable-energy projects that help lower customers’ energy costs and promote a commitment to the environment.

Eighteen nonprofits – engaging in efforts ranging from solar PV projects for wetland reserves to schools and government buildings – used past grants.. Nonprofit organizations interested in receiving a grant for their renewable-energy projects can receive more details and fill out an application at wppienergy.org/renewablerfp or call Eric Kostecki at 608.834.4549.

As member-owners of WPPI Energy, SBU and 50 other utilities in Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula work together to purchase power, share resources and jointly own electric-generation facilities and transmission assets for the benefit of their local communities.
