18th Annual Door County Lighthouse Festival

Although the Plum Island cruise and tour is sold out, tickets are available for the remainder of the land-based tours and boat cruises set for the 18th Annual Door County Lighthouse Festival, taking place June 10 – 12.

The annual Friday evening Keeper’s Kin event will feature a 6 pm dinner cruise, followed by the traditional dessert buffet cruise at 8 pm. Again, relatives of Door County lighthouse keepers will be on board the Harbor Lady to share stories during the cruise off Sherwood Point Lighthouse. A Sunday morning brunch cruise is being introduced this year on the Harbor Lady that will take passengers past Sturgeon Bay area lighthouses.

A limited number of tickets remain for trip to the Chambers Island lighthouse. Those interested are advised that a 1-1/2 mile hike will be required to reach the lighthouse.

Other boat trips include the popular six-hour Island Clipper tour which will feature Michigan lighthouses and a hike to Rock Island’s lighthouse. The Baileys Harbor Lighthouse & Shipwreck Tour will cruises past the harbor’s lights and then on to Cana Island. In Sturgeon Bay, the former Chicago fireboat Fred A. Busse will be running a pair of 90-minutes tours throughout the weekend.

There are five land-based tours, four making stops at the five mainland accessible lights. Friday and Saturday evening, a Ghost Tour will leave from the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, providing an opportunity to experience Sherwood Point Lighthouse after dark.
