2016 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholars to Receive Extra $2,000

High school seniors, invited to a Herb Kohl Educational Foundation luncheon in Chippewa Falls on April 3 to honor their selection as Herb Kohl scholars, were stunned and delighted with the surprise announcement that all 2016 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation scholars will receive an additional $2,000 toward their scholarships, effective immediately. Students were notified by the foundation in March that they had been chosen to receive $3,000 scholarships from the foundation; instead their awards will be $5,000.

Awardees from Door and Kewaunee Counties are: Initiative Scholars 2016 – Texas Kinnard, Forestville, Southern Door High School; Nathan Picus, Kewaunee, Kewaunee High School; Teacher Fellows 2016 – Kathleen Kowalczyk, Kewaunee, Pioneer Elementary School; and Leadership Awards 2016 – Adam Baier, Sturgeon Bay, Sevastopol Middle & High School.

Herb Kohl Foundation Excellence Scholarship applications for students graduating in 2017 will be available at kohleducation.org beginning in September 2016.
