2019 Packerland All-Conference Softball Team: Eagles Place 5 on First Team

Southern Door led the Packerland Conference with three unanimous softball all conference selections announced Saturday.

Senior pitcher Lexi Wery, senior outfielder Tehya Bertrand and senior utility player Grace LeGrave each earned the conference’s unanimous honor. The Eagles had five first team selections.

“It is an honor to have Grace, Lexi, and Tehya unanimously voted to first team,” Southern Door coach Courtney Renard said. “They all are four year varsity players for the program and great leaders on and off the field. It just shows that their hard work and dedication paid off for them in the end.”

Joining the Eagles’ senior trio on the first team are junior outfielders Jackie Atkins and Kendra Dantoin. Junior infielder Kylie Neinas was named to the second team.

Wery finished the conference season with a 9-2 record and a 1.09 ERA. Wery walked only 11 batters and struck out 57 in 57 innings. LeGrave posted a 5-0 record and saved three games. She struck out 43 and walked only five batters.

LeGrave batted .519 with 13 RBIs and a team-high 27 runs and Wery batted .391 and had 19 RBIs. Bertrand batted .29 with three home runs and 18 RBIs.

Atkins led the conference in hitting with a .522 batting average and Dantoin batted .432 with 13 RBIs.

Other local athletes named to the first team are catcher Koko Hartzell and outfielder Grace Abeyta from Sturgeon Bay.

Infielder Laura Junior from Sevastopol and Sturgeon Bay’s Katie Frank were named to the second team.
