Henry

Can you help to heal Henry?

On August 23rd, an older dachshund was found on Alabama Place in Sturgeon Bay and brought to the Door County Humane Society. He was wearing both a harness and leash, but had no I.D. tags. His photo was posted on the shelter’s Facebook page immediately, as it was obvious he had an owner somewhere. But as the days clicked by, no one called or expressed concern at his disappearance.

The staff named him Henry, and instantly fell for his personality. After eight days, little Henry became the shelter’s latest addition. He’s had all sorts of vet attention since then because of many health-related issues.

Henry is a darling senior, and deserves a chance to have pain-free golden years. Even with the aches he’s experiencing now, his eyes shine with love for the attention he’s receiving at the kennel. Henry just needs a helping hand for his Chapter Two to begin.

In order for that to happen, Henry needs: a gum procedure plus numerous tooth extractions; repair of two body wall hernias; and neutering. All three procedures would be done simultaneously, so he only has to go under anesthesia once, then Henry will emerge in much better condition.

The kicker is it will cost $750, and that is beyond the Door County Humane Society’s capability to fund. If you are able to help with a donation toward Henry’s surgery, please call the Humane Society at 920.746.1111 or email [email protected].

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD) in Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 pm.
