Welcome to “Notes from the Grove” providing information about Liberty Grove Town government to residents and visitors.

• The town has signed the Intergovernmental Agreement to establish funding for a Northern Door Joint Fire District Exploratory Committee. Participating municipalities are contributing $5000 each to cover the legal, secretarial and consulting costs associated with exploring a possible fire district for northern door.

• The scissor lift has been delivered to the town shop as well as the new mower attachment. The scissor lift was purchased as a used piece of equipment and Jay indicates it will reach a height of 32’. In the past the crew had to borrow a lift. The mower attached will allow a single pass when mowing in a gang mowing configuration. This should save considerable time when mowing.

• De Moulin HVAC llc has been hired to install two 300,000 btu gas 2 stage heating units in the town shop at a cost of $7,320.00. The board also approved the purchase of a Stalker Radar traffic counter.

• New Supervisor Lou Covotsos has been appointed to the Parks and Properties Committee and the Finance Committee. As a member of Parks and Properties he will also be a member of the Ellison Bay Harbor subcommittee and the Rowley’s Bay subcommittee. Lou also serves on the Fire Board along with Supervisors Goss and Forkert.

• The board decided that the existing Road Maintenance Policy will apply to Heritage Roads. There had been discussions concerning a modified policy for Heritage Roads. The board also decided to postpone Heritage Road nominations for town roads being considered for improvements. Waters End Road has been designated a Heritage Road.

• Baudhuin engineering has been hired to do the survey work on Garrett Bay Road which is being scheduled for future road improvement.

• The board received an update on the Door County North plans to retain a marketing coordinator. The board has designated $20,000 from the room tax revenues it receives to help the organization fund a coordinator.
