It’s all about kittens at the Humane Society right now. Ebony, ashy gray, marmalade, snowy or calico color combinations – kittens tumbling over their mates to grab a visitor’s hand. The first litters of kittens, those who arrived in March, began their great new adventures last week. A new group has the “now available” sign on their cages, and the humane society anticipates new batches “rolling out” each week. They have a lot of kittens!

No animal leaves the Humane Society without being spayed or neutered. Kittens must achieve certain landmark ages and weights in order for that surgery to be scheduled. If a kitten is adopted immediately after the sterilization procedure, the adopter is responsible for completing the necessary shots: rabies at three months and distemper at four months. Cat/kitten adoption fee is $90.

Interested adopters may download an application from the DCHS website dooranimals.com, and streamline the adoption process by being pre-approved.

The Door County Humane Society, located at 3475 Park Drive (County PD – the road to Potawatomi State Park), Sturgeon Bay, is open for adoption Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon – 4 pm. For more information call 920.746.1111 or visit dooranimals.com.

Sparkly glitter tattoos to benefit the Door County Humane Society will be on sale on July 3 & 4 at Something Fishy, located on Highway 42 in Egg Harbor.
