Algoma Girls Win State Track Title

The WIAA State Track & Field Meet was held June 2 and 3 in LaCrosse, with a host of Door County athletes participating.

The Algoma Girls squad was the area’s biggest winner, leaving LaCrosse as state team champions.

State Track

Division 2

In Division 2, Sturgeon Bay’s 400-meter relay team of  Brady Wodack, Luke Brinkman, Hayden Shefchik, and Nic Greenlaw finished 6th in 43.57.

The Southern Door Girls 3200 meter relay team of  Jennifer Vandertie, Gracie Englebert, Chloe Staudenmaier, Maggie Grota finished 14th in 10:16.04.

Division 3

The Gibraltar 400 meter relay team of Abbigael Sitte, Hannah Helm, Nina Sitte, and Bria Caldecott finished 8th in 51.74.

Sevastopol’s Olivia Wagner finished 8th in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:01.12, while fellow Pioneer Demi Ploor placed 4th in the pole vault, topping 10′ 6″ in the vault.

Soccer

Sturgeon Bay girls soccer team fell to Oostburg, 5 – 0, in the regional final Saturday.

Baseball

Southern Door plays Laconia in the sectional semi-finals Tuesday in Markesan at 9:30 am.
