“An Eye for Art” Featured at Pangaea Gallery

David Franke, Door County abstract artist, describes his exhibit “An Eye For Art” at Pangaea Gallery as having little to do with the cliché, “The eyes are the windows of the soul.” Instead, he perceives his work as putting a face to nature. Discovering potential faces in the rocks and branches he found on his daily walks, he began collecting and dragging things home. “That’s how the eyes got involved,” he says. They humanized his collection of sticks, stones and copper pipe, expressing (sometimes whimsically) humankind’s insistent mastery over nature as well as the attempted mastery over its own.

Pangaea Gallery is located on 3992 Juddville Road, Fish Creek. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 – 5 pm. For more information call 920.868.1719.
