Another Request To Reduce Speed On Hwy 57

The Baileys Harbor Town Board voted Dec. 7 to send a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, reiterating a request for a speed reduction on Highway 57 south of town past County Road E.

The resolution – first sent to the DOT in 2003 and discussed repeatedly over the past four years – came in response to safety concerns expressed by Maxwelton Braes Golf Course staff and residents using the County Road E intersection near Frogtown Road.

It also asks the DOT to make the straight stretch that cuts through Maxwelton Braes a no-passing zone and to reduce speeds and remove passing areas to the town’s southern boundary.
