At The Ridges

Over the past year, The Ridges Sanctuary has partnered with the Door County YMCA and McArdle Library in Baileys Harbor to provide “No Family Left Inside,” nature programs for parents and children to explore Door County. The next program, entitled “Moon Walk” will take place on Friday, October 22 at 6 pm.

“Moon Walk” is designed for participants of all ages. The evening will feature a hike and activities related to the moon and its changing phases, as well as a campfire that includes treats and story telling.

The event will begin at the Ridges’ Marshall Cabin. The cost is $10 per family (1 or 2 adults and their children under 18), and is limited to 20 participants, so advance registration is required.

To celebrate the “Year of the Niagara Escarpment” in 2010, and to raise funds for the “No Family Left Inside” programs, The Ridges Sanctuary has conducted a raffle throughout the summer. On Friday, October 15 State Representative Garey Bies will draw the winning tickets at The Ridges’ Open House celebration. The program and drawing will begin at 1 pm; refreshments will be served until 2:30 pm.

A limited number of raffle tickets are still available at the Ridges Nature Center, open 9 am – 4 pm, Monday – Friday; 10 am – 2 pm, Saturday; and 10:30 am – 2 pm, Sunday. The center is located just north of Baileys Harbor at 8288 Highway Q.
