The Sevastopol School District annual meeting will held Aug. 25 at 6:30 pm in the multi-purpose room. Among the agenda items is the annual financial report, presentation of next year’s budget, and the State of the District 2008 – 09 academic progress report.

The board will also approve the 2009 – 10 school tax levy and establish school board salaries. Current salaries are $225 per month per board member and $50 per diem for each meeting attended outside the district plus mileage reimbursement.

 

The Sturgeon Bay Wayfinding Task Force has finalized components of the new sign program for the city. The task force is seeking to find a Sturgeon Bay residents or companies to bid on the project to design signage for the city. The goal is to create signage that gives residents and guests the feeling they have entered an historic port city while giving accurate and easy directions around the city. • The Door County Tourism Zone Commission Compliance Committee will meet Aug. 25 at 9 am at the Sevastopol Town Hall, 4528 Hwy 57 in Institute. The committee is working on improving the compliance policy for room tax collection.

 

A student film shooting in Door County in September is calling for extras. Producer Aria Moazzen is hoping to get 15 young extras for shooting at Birch Creek Music Center in Egg Harbor Sept. 2. Moazzen said he’s looking for either young adults age 14 – 19, or those who can pass for that age range.

On Sept. 3, he’s hoping to get 100 extras of all ages for shooting at American Folklore Theatre in Peninsula State Park. Those interested in helping out can contact Moazzen at 734.812.3463 or email [email protected].
