Base Camp Exhibit to Benefit Humane Society

Le Gros Chat (the fat cat) exhibit at Base Camp Coffee Bar in Sister Bay will culminate with a party and auction to benefit the Door County Humane Society on Saturday, May 9 from 6 – 8 pm.

According to Joel Kersebet, owner of Base Camp and Ecology Sports with his wife, Alicia, the idea for the show came from Base Camp regular, artist Craig Blietz.

“I wanted something fun to coincide with Base Camp’s re-opening in April,” Kersebet says. “We liked the idea of having an exhibit to benefit the Humane Society. Craig’s cat is the muse for both his entry and the show overall.”

Everyone – from novice to master artist – was invited to participate in this pet-oriented salon. All 2- and 3-D media were accepted with a five-dollar entry fee per artist to defray the costs of the party. Artists will receive a 40 percent commission on sold works, and 60 percent of the auction price will be donated to the Humane Society.
