Benedict Creates Peace Pole for UU Fellowship

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County (UUFDC) held a Peace Pole dedication in its garden Sept. 12 when it added the internationally recognized monument for peace and symbol of hope for the entire human family.

The UUFDC’s Social Justice Committee worked with sculptor and donor Roger Benedict to create and install the pole, whose messages are written in languages that reflect the predominant past and present cultures of Door County: Ojibwe, Norwegian, Spanish and English.Estimates put the number of Peace Poles (worldpeace.org/peacepoleproject) around the world at more than 250,000. They remind us to think, speak and act in a spirit of peace and harmony. Visit this Peace Pole in the UUFDC Garden, 10341 Hwy 42 in north Ephraim.
