Birch Creek Schedules Work Day

Birch Creek faculty and students have gone, signaling the end of the 2008 concert season at the Birch Creek Music Performance Center, three miles east of Egg Harbor.

But the bustle will return on Wednesday, September 3, and again on Wednesday, September 10, when Birch Creek’s outstanding volunteer organization, The Associates, gather for two workdays to prepare Birch Creek’s campus for winter.

Work Day is just one more way that The Associates contribute to Birch Creek. In the summer, their many talents are utilized as they greet concertgoers, sell the well-known popcorn, sweet treats, lemonade, and coffee, staff the familiar “Play It Again Stand” gift shop, distribute posters, work in the campus office, and maintain the numerous flowerbeds surrounding Birch Creek’s buildings. Additionally, members of The Associates serve on the Board of Trustees and its committees, assist with mailings, and plan and carry out fundraising events.

Volunteers will have an easy time storing their wares this year, from gift shop T-shirts to the colorful carts used for concessions sales. The new maintenance storage building, recently added to Birch Creek’s campus as part of its 3-building capital campaign, bears a large storage room, named for The Associates in honor of their gift to the campaign.

The Associates welcome members and new volunteers alike to both Work Days. Volunteers will meet in Birch Creek’s dining hall at 9 am to join work teams before heading out on campus. Dress casually for an active day. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to sign up for Work Day, call 920.868.3763.
