Bjorklunden Holds 6th Annual Nordic FiddleFest

The 6th Annual Door County Nordic FiddleFest is proud to present legendary Celtic fiddler Liz Carroll and Norwegian multi- instrumentalist Vidar Skrede in the Björklunden Lodge, Aug. 4, 7 pm.

This year the concert will showcase fiddle music of Ireland and Scandinavia, with gifted performer/composers exploring the synergy between the two cultures.

Carroll was born in Chicago of Irish parents. Among her accolades, she is a junior and senior All-Ireland Fiddle Champion, the first Irish-American musician nominated for a Grammy, and the first American-born composer to be honored with the Cumadoir TG4, Ireland’s most significant music prize. In 1994, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded Carroll a National Heritage Fellowship for her great influence on Irish music in America. She has been featured on 11 of her own CDs, countless other side-projects, and maintains a busy performing career as a solo act and band member.

Skrede hails from Haugesund, Norway. He plays beautiful Hardanger fiddle, scintillating guitar, and writes some of the loveliest and most dynamic music on the scene today. After years of touring the Scandinavian counties with projects such as The Dynamo Band, AAMOS, The Secret Carpet Club and Geitungen, and garnering many awards for those recordings.

Admission is $20 per person, cash only. The concert is limited to 120 seats only. Tickets may be reserved by calling the Baileys Harbor Visitor Center at 920.839.2366, or may be purchased at the door. A reception will follow the performance.

Björklunden is located off Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor at 7590 Boynton Lane.
