Bjِrklunden Hosts Free Concerts in Early February

Lawrence University’s Bjِrklunden will host a couple concerts in early February.

On Feb. 7 at 4:30 pm, Sharan Leventhal on violin and Paulina Zamora on piano will perform works by Copland, Shifrin, Cage, and Ravel. Leventhal is a violin professor at Boston Conservatory and will be the guest artist for the string chamber music retreat.

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Lawrence University is a chapter of the national music fraternity, and they will perform on Feb. 10 at 1:30 pm. The fraternity has 30-plus members with interests and majors ranging from economics and computer science to music performance and education. Every year the fraternity travels to Bjِrklunden Lodge for a weekend.

This year’s concert will include solo performances and standards as well as an arrangement by Calvin Armstrong, performed by their big band.

These free concerts are sponsored by the Boynton Society and will be held in Bjِrklunden’s Vail Hall. Entrance to the Bjِrklunden is located on Highway 57, south of Baileys Harbor, across from Anschutz Plumbing.
