Blackbeard the Pirate at Southern Door

The Missoula Children’s Theatre will bring their production of Blackbeard the Pirate to the Southern Door Community Auditorium on April 24 at 6 pm.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre, based in Missoula, Montana, provides a week-long residency “starring” 50 to 60 local elementary and middle school students in a full-scale musical. Their mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through participation in this unique and educational project.

Blackbeard the Pirate was written and conceived by Michael McGill. During the musical, what starts as a lazy day at the beach, quickly turns into mystery and adventure when the search for Blackbeard’s treasure begins. Tales past and present launch some beach bums to action in search of the treasure, complete with a colorful cast of characters: crabs, mermaids, seaweed creatures, sailors, parrots, crocodiles, Jolly Rodger and Sam the Clam.

Tickets are $5. Southern Door Community Auditorium is located at 2073 County DK in Brussels. For more information visit southerndoorauditorium.org.
