Bob Kase Quartet at Birch Creek

Birch Creek Music Performance Center’s “Jazz in Juniper” series continues with a performance by the Bob Kase Quartet on Friday, August 21 at 8 pm.

No stranger to Birch Creek audiences, The Bob Kase Quartet brings to the stage the classic jazz sounds of notables such as Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldrige, Duke Ellington, and Al Hirt. They will perform jazz favorites, original compositions, and classics.

The group’s founder and trumpet soloist, Bob Kase, has been a featured musician in both jazz and classical ensembles across the United States and around the world, and has performed on more than 200 recordings. Kase is also a dedicated music educator and administrator. His concerts give audiences the experience of hearing well-seasoned jazz sounds together with diverse styles.

Kase is joined by Mathew Buchman, piano, Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Buchman has toured extensively and has also composed for big band and chamber ensembles.

Cully Swanson adds his remarkable bass performance to the quartet. Swanson has recorded with numerous jazz artists and previously led his own jazz ensemble in Minneapolis.

The quartet is completed with the addition of Ryan Korb on drums. Like the other musicians, Korb has toured with many leading jazz artists, and continues to perform and record in Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee and New York.

Birch Creek’s “Jazz in Juniper” series has previously featured performances by the Chicago-based jazz ensemble SHE and jazz faculty members Reggie Thomas, Jeff Campbell and Rick Haydon. Tickets for the Bob Kase Quartet are $29 for adults, $10 for young adults 12 – 20 and college students, and $6 for children. For more information or tickets, call 920.868.3763.
