Bonnie Braes Begins

2013 marks the 20th anniversary of the women’s golf league at Maxwelton Braes.

Members of the Bonnie Braes Women’s Golf League golf at Maxwelton Braes.

The “Bonnie Braes” started as an early evening group to accommodate the schedule of several members who were working and has continued as a group that prefers late afternoon golf and adjourning to a favorite spot to enjoy camaraderie and a dinner out (one of the newest members even joined because she wanted to become part of the fun-loving group at the Cornerstone).

Every year we need to add new members as former members move, can no longer play, and move on to other interests. An invitation is extended to other golfers so they can become a member of the Bonnie Braes.

As is the custom, the Bonnie Braes start the season gently – giving members a chance to warm up. On the first golf day no prizes will be awarded but scores can be recorded for the purpose of building a handicap.

An organizational meeting will be held May 30 at 2 pm. League members will vote on how they’ll operate this year. The meeting will be followed by a play-for-fun practice round. Plan to stay for dinner at a favorite eating establishment.

League play begins June 6; arrive at the course at 2:30 pm to be ready for the 3 pm tee-off. Regular league play continues weekly through Sept. 12.
