“Build a Better World” at the Library

“Build a Better World” is the theme for the Summer Reading Program in Door County this year, and what better way to celebrate than to focus on our local building project, the new Library & Community Center in Egg Harbor. There will be a special kick-off to the start of construction viewing on July 15, 11 am – 1 pm, at the Peg Egan PAC in Egg Harbor. Ryan Heise, Egg Harbor village administrator, will start the festivities by welcoming all attendees, followed by Tina Kakuske, Door County Library Director, who will speak about “Great Things to Come.” The final speaker of the day, from The Boldt Company, will talk about “Helping Build Community.”

This family friendly event will feature light snacks and beverages, bleacher viewing of the construction site, and two special events sponsored by the Door County Medical Center. These events include singer/songwriter Randy Peterson who will appear at the Peg Egan PAC and promises musical fun for everyone with his program titled “Building a Better World, One Song at a Time” from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. In addition, kids ages 4-12 will be able to participate in “Art for Health,” which focuses on health, music, and art with interactive, hands-on fun from 11 am to 1 pm.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chairs to the festivities.

The Egg Harbor Library invites all residents of and visitors to the peninsula to stop by from now until Aug. 15 to pick up a special kit for kids to take to the construction site to learn about the different equipment being used, wear a cool hard hat, and receive a prize when they return the kit to the library. The bleacher viewing of the construction site will be available until the end of the summer so everyone may watch this wonderful building project take shape over the next couple of months. The Boldt Company will also bring their Lego Building Blocks program for kids to the Egg Harbor Library on July 28. Call 920.868.2664 or visit doorcountylibrary.org for more information.
