Celebrate the Holly Days in Egg Harbor, Nov. 27-28

Egg Harbor’s Holly Days is a weekend full of old-fashioned holiday fun. The festival will be held the weekend of Thanksgiving, Nov. 27 and 28. The event, full of family fun, kicks off the official Christmas season with festive dazzling decorations and holiday activities for all ages.

Start the weekend with Breakfast with Santa at the Landmark Resort on Friday, Nov. 27 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Enjoy a delicious breakfast surrounded by plenty of seasonal decorations, get photos taken with Santa, decorate cookies and create different arts and crafts.

The family weekend features a Children’s Elf Hunt and a Mistle Dough shopping contest for adults on Friday and Saturday. Horse-drawn wagon rides narrated by the Egg Harbor Historical Society through downtown Egg Harbor will begin at Mojo Rosa’s and are offered both Friday and Saturday.

Free children’s activities will be offered both Friday and Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm. Decorate delicious cookies at Pink Bakery, make buttons at Liberty Square, and write and mail letters to Santa at Main Street Shops. Also on Saturday, Something Fishy will offer glitter tattoos.

Friday afternoon, don’t miss the authors of A Door County Night Before Christmas at Cinnamon Windmill. Stay for story time and get your book signed. Santa will arrive in the heart of Egg Harbor at Harbor View Park at 4:30 pm to light the Christmas tree. Sing fun-filled carols, take photos with Santa, and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies provided by Pink Bakery. The tree will be lit at 5 pm.

The 14th annual Children’s Christmas Store will be held Saturday at the Bertschinger Center from 11:30 am – 2 pm. Children ages 4-12 can purchase holiday gifts for their family with help from Santa’s elves. This event is sponsored by the Door County 4-H.

New this year – there will be two Reindeer Drops. The “Reindeer” Drop, will take place at Lena’s Lot on the south end of town, across from Liberty Square at 1 pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10 and only 100 tickets will be available for each event. Tickets can be purchased until Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Baylake Bank Egg Harbor and Mojo Rosa’s. Tickets will then be available Friday and Saturday at Mojo Rosa’s, Liberty Square Shops and Something Fishy. The winner will take home half the pot ($500). The other half of the pot will benefit East Maplewood 4-H Beavers. There will also be music, a trivia contest, and an opportunity to take photos with the calves.

Kids can also follow Santa to Santa Land. Santa will arrive Saturday at 10:30 am and make his way north through town. Make sure to bring a camera and visit Santa Land at the Egg Harbor Visitor Center between 11 am – 2 pm on Saturday to take pictures with Santa. Prizes for the Elf Hunt and Mistle Dough shopping contest will also be awarded in Santa Land at 2 pm.

All events are free of charge, with the exception of Breakfast with Santa and Reindeer Drop. Donations are welcome and will help continue the Holly Days tradition.
