Celebrate the Ridges on Aug. 3

The Ridges Sanctuary will host a full day of activities on Aug. 3 on the future site of its new visitor center, beginning with its Annual Meeting at 3 pm. Evening activities begin at 5 pm with a beverage service followed by a picnic meal by Door County caterer Serves You Right. At 7 pm, storyteller, writer and actor Jim Pfitzer takes the stage to perform his one-man touring play, Aldo Leopold: A Standard of Change. Pfitzer portrays Leopold during the development of his most important writings.

On Aug. 8, Scott Weber will present “Wisconsin Native Orchids: Their Biology, Conservation and Cultivation” at 7 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. Weber and his wife, Martha Barrett, own and operate Bluestem Farm, a native plant nursery, orchard and vineyard, and Weber is a frequent lecturer on native orchid propagation. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
