Clipper Skiers, Snowboarders Open Season

The Sturgeon Bay ski and snowboard team last week competed in its first two meets of the season.

Senior Tristan Brilla won the Christie Mountain boys snowboard competition, then finished third at Granite Peak.

The Clipper skiers started their season in foggy conditions at Granite Peak on Thursday. Senior Maddie Propsom and sophomore June VanLieshout led the way for Sturgeon Bay overall with top-20 finishes.

On the boys side, the Clippers were led by senior Ben Stephens, who finished 22nd overall, including top-20 finishes in the Giant Slalom and Super G events.

This week, the Clippers head to Bayfield County for their third meet of the season on Tuesday, and then follow that up with a trip to Ski Brule this weekend.
