Community Mosaic Project Back at Hardy

The Community Mosaic Project is celebrating five years of making the arts accessible for all members of the community. The project consists of the construction of a large-scale mosaic using about 300 6-inch by 6-inch artworks. This year’s project will be exhibited in tandem with the Hardy’s 2012 Collection Invitational Exhibition that will be on display from July 21 through August 26.

The Hardy, as a result of the generosity of the Artists Guild LLC in Sturgeon Bay, provides any interested community members with a free 6-inch by 6-inch blank canvas to create a work of art. There are no restrictions regarding subject matter or the kinds of materials one can use to create the art, except that it must be appropriate for display at the gallery, created using the canvas supplied and must not exceed the 6-inch by 6-inch dimension.

The unveiling of the project will be July 20 from 5:30 – 7 pm at the Hardy Gallery and will run through August 26.

Blank canvases for the project are now available at the Artists Guild LLC in Sturgeon Bay, the Hardy Galley office in Ephraim, and Dahl Law Firm in Sister Bay. Canvases must be submitted to the Hardy no later than June 25. Participants must also complete an Artist Statement Form and return it with their artwork. Copies of this form are available at http://www.thehardy.org and where the canvases are distributed.
