CONSTRUCTION UPDATE, Sept. 4 – 11

Hwy. 42 Village of Forestville, between County X and J

Schedule: Aug. to Oct. 2015

Length: 0.05 Miles

Cost: $475,000

Description of project: The project involves removing the existing box culvert and replacing it with a new bridge meeting current design standards for vehicular loading and structure design. Bridge approaches will be constructed, which include curb and gutter, asphalt pavement, storm sewer, signing and pavement marking.

Sept. 8 to 11: The contractor will continue to form and tie reinforcing steel for the south bridge abutment and place concrete for the abutment; excavate for the removal of the existing box culvert, remove the top of the existing box culvert; and begin to remove the sidewalls of the box culvert.

Traffic impacts: Hwy. 42 will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. An approximately 3.5-mile detour from Hwy. 42 to County X to County D to County J and back to Hwy. 42 for northbound traffic and the reverse for southbound traffic has been established to maintain through traffic.

Hwy. 42 Village of Sister Bay

Construction on Hwy. 42 in the Village of Sister Bay will begin Tuesday, Sept. 8. Two WIS 42 detours will be in place as part of this construction. One of the detours will be only on the weekdays. The other is a full closure, with both detours ongoing until Oct. 8. As part of the same project, crews completed reconstruction of Hwy. 57 in Sister Bay on Sept. 2 and removed the detour. Work on 57 began on July 6.

Construction and detour information:

  • Full closure of Hwy. 42 between Country Walk Drive north to Hwy. 57 will take place from Sept. 8 through Oct. 8. The detour is Hwy. 42 to Country Walk Drive to Hwy. 57 to Hwy. 42. Access to businesses will be maintained. Closures of Hwy. 42, on a block-by-block basis, between Maple Drive and Scandia Road, from Sundays at 8 pm through Fridays at noon, from Sept. 8 through Oct. 8.
  • The detour on the weekdays is Hwy. 42 to Maple Drive/County ZZ to Woodcrest Road to Scandia Road to Hwy. 42. 42 will be open to traffic on the weekends, and access to business will also be maintained during the weekdays.
