By creating wildflower gardens and not using chemicals on the lawn, Bator has seen a turnaround of nature on his property. Submitted.
Fish Creek resident Jim Bator contracted with Door County Prairie Company to perform controlled burns of two wildflower fields on his property. The burns are done every few years to remove grasses that can take over and allow the warm plants to get a start without the weeds getting ahead of them. These controlled burns allow even small spaces to become pollinator areas.
