Count This Penny to Perform at White Gull Inn

Count This Penny will perform at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek on Feb. 27 at 8 pm.

Count This Penny, comprised of Allen (guitar and vocals) and Amanda (bass and vocals) Rigell and John Ray (banjo), hails from Madison. Founders Allen and Amanda are East Tennessee transplants and describe their music as “Appalachian pop,” what might best be described as traditional country with mountain soul. With haunting harmonies and tasteful instrumentation, the band combines a sound steeped in American traditions with a refreshingly original approach to songwriting.

Count This Penny has appeared on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, Wisconsin Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Television’s 30-Minute Music Hour, and WDVX’s Blue Plate Special in Knoxville, Tennessee. Following their national radio debut in March, their EP hit the number 6 spot on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart. The band’s 2012 release Pitchman was the final record produced at Madison’s legendary Smart Studios.

An optional pre-concert fixed price dinner will be served at 6 pm. Creole Jambalaya, basmati rice, homemade cornbread, a wedge salad, and coconut cream pie are on the menu.

Tickets are $16. For reservations call 920.868.3517.
