Cover Painting Auctioned for Charity

This issue of Door County Living is devoted entirely to the spirit of giving, a thread that runs strong through the fabric of the Door County community. It is in this spirit that Craig Blietz, the artist behind our cover image, has generously offered this work for auction to benefit a local cause.

Door County Living will auction the Blietz original painting, “Philanthropy,” by mail bid through August 15, 2009. The oil on panel painting, completed in early 2009, is 12 inches tall by 9 inches wide and will

come framed. All proceeds from the winning bid will go to the Door County charity of the bidder’s choice.

The minimum bid for “Philanthropy” is $1,500, and the winner will be notified by telephone and announced in local publications.

Blietz is a renowned Door County artist whose work will be on display at Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek in the summer of 2009. His work has also been shown at the Miller Art Museum; the Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art; The Muskegon Museum of Art; Meyer Gallery in Park City, Utah; Edgewood Orchard Galleries; and the Constance Petter Gallery in Saugatuck, MI, among many other venues. He is a teacher at the Kewaunee Arts Academy, and his work can be seen at www.blietzstudio.com.
