Cyclists Hit the Road Next Two Weekends

Door County’s big cycling weekends are here. First up is the Door County Century Ride out of Sturgeon Bay. That ride takes place Sunday, Sept. 11. Then the next weekend – on Saturday, Sept. 17 – the Peninsula Century Fall Challenge will ride out of Sister Bay’s Waterfront Park.

Although the Sept. 11 ride is sold out, you can still sign up for the Fall Challenge with a choice of four routes: 25, 50, 62 or 100 miles through the back roads of the peninsula. Each route features rest stops with great food, hydration stations and course support, should you run into any issues on your ride.

“There’s nothing like seeing the county on a bike,” said Fall Challenge organizer Brian Fitzgerald. “It’s a great physical challenge, but it also forces you to notice things you hadn’t before and appreciate the landscape.”

The ride will end with lunch from Thyme Cuisine, beer from One Barrel Brewing Company and a party at Waterfront Park in Sister Bay. The first riders will roll out at 7 am.

Find more information and register at peninsulacenturyfallchallenge.com, or sign up on-site at packet pickup Friday, Sept. 16, 4-7 pm; or Saturday, Sept. 17, 6-9 am.
