DCAL Hosts “Off the Wall” Art Show and Artists of the Week

“Bathing Beauties” by Pat Olson.

The Door County Art League (DCAL) presents “Off the Wall” Art Show at the Sister Bay Village Hall on July 28 and 29. Oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, pastels and photography will be displayed.

According to Pat Olson, show coordinator, “This is a casual and fun art event. Instead of the formal gallery approach, DCAL members will display their artwork on tabletop and floor easels. Some of the artists will also demonstrate their craft and art techniques during the show.”

Admission is free and the public is invited to browse, meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. Hours are 10 am – 5 pm on July 28, and 10 am – 3 pm on July 29.

“Nova Scotia Retired Dory” by Dave Hackett.

DCAL also announces Dave and Carol Hackett are artists of the week, July 29 – August 4.

Dave’s art includes landscapes, lighthouses and other Door County landmarks, and has won many national and regional art awards.

A career graphic designer, Dave worked for Milwaukee advertising agencies, where he developed his watercolor and pen and ink styles. Dave’s work has been featured on the cover of Key to the Door magazine. He lives in Fish Creek with his wife, Carol. Carol creates beaded jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

The DCAL Gallery, open daily from 10 am – 5 pm, is located at the Top of the Hill Shops on Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
