DCHS Barks by the Bay

On Aug 23, the Door County Humane Society (DCHS) will hold its annual Bark by the Bay Pet Walk. Registration begins at 9 am and the cost is $25 per person or $50 per family. Gift bags await each registered participant. Walkers are strongly encouraged to solicit pledges from friends as all money raised will go directly to the operating budget of the Humane Society. Those with pledges totaling $25 or more will receive the 2014 commemorative T-shirt. Donations to DCHS are tax deductible.

DCHS Executive Director Carrie Counihan said, “This is a major event in the life of the shelter. It’s always a special day. We appreciate the help provided by the City of Sturgeon Bay to host this event in Martin Park.”

Blessing of the Animals by shelter chaplain Bruce Joffe will take place at 9:45 am, with the walk starting at 10 am. Both one-mile and two-mile routes are offered to walkers. Dogs must be older than four months of age and rabies vaccinated; a collar tag or rabies certificate will suffice. Walkers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration forms may be obtained at the Humane Society, located at 3475 County Road PD, Sturgeon Bay, or online at dooranimals.com. Registration forms also available the morning of the event at the headquarters tent in Martin Park, located at Third Avenue and Oregon Street, Sturgeon Bay. For more information visit dooranimals.com.
