DCHS Featured Pet: Gizmo

Gizmo is a nine-month-old kitten available for adoption from the Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) Door County Campus. Found as a stray, he came to us in pretty rough shape: he had a tick; debris plugged his ear canals; and his fur was so matted that some parts required shaving. Our staff has also discovered that Gizmo is blind.

Understandably, he’s cautious and easily startled by new noises, but once he realizes he’s safe, he’s as sweet as can be and just wants to be cuddled and played with like any other kitten. Gizmo’s favorite toy is a feathered ball that rattles. He’s able to follow the noise and pounce so well that you momentarily forget he can’t see.

If you spend a few minutes with Gizmo, you’ll see just how inspiring a mere five-pound kitten can be. Like all cats at WHS, he is already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Now all he needs is a safe and loving place to call home!

The WHS Door County Campus – at 3475 Park Dr., across from Cherryland Airport in Sturgeon Bay – is open for adoptions Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 12-6 pm; and Saturday, 12-4 pm. Call 920.746.1111 to learn more.
